UpToYouToo

In 2004, UpToYouToo facilitated the famous kenyan hip-hop album 'Kilio cha Haki' (a cry for justice). 38 hip-hop artists from the ghettos in Nairobi dropped their lines in a bedroom cum studio brought over from Holland. Most of them never recorded before.  Kilio cha Haki attracted a lot of attention in Kenya and internationally. From this success UpToYouToo took the initiative to set up a permanent studio that will serve artists from the ghettos.

With the help of funders UpToYouToo was able to get the needed equipment and premises situated in Buruburu. The studio is now ready for operations and is being actively operated by two youths from Kenya who also come from the ghetto. Muriuki is the current producer in the studio, he actively participated in the Kilio cha Haki album as a co-producer. Mercy is running the administrative and marketing aspects of the studio. The two have attended practical training courses at Earforce in the Netherlands and are therefore well equipped to handle the running of the studio with help from UpToYouToo. Linda has recently joined the team as the studio’s manager.

Ragz2Records owes it's promising existence to the DOEN Foundation, DigiDesign, AudioXL/JBL, 2Source4 and Earforce Studios for their help, support and encouragement.
